Wood Types

Birch - this is a medium-density hardwood with a fine grain pattern. It will often have a bluish or gray natural tone and can give great character to a space with a natural finish.

Cherry - a multi-colored hardwood. Can contain knots and pin holes that will add dimension to the design. This wood often darkens as it ages.

Hickory - this is another hard wood that is open grained. The color variations are usually wide. The variations can be toned down with darker stains, but it is this unique quality that makes hickory a good choice for the natural wood look in a space.

Maple - the soft, even grain texture is what makes this hardwood stand out. The color tends toward the white spectrum. It is a good wood for light finishes.

Oak - this is the hardwood that has a strong, red tone when left natural. The grain tends to be wavier than other hard woods. It is a staple in the wood working industry.
